On a very hot evening in June, our party of four were lucky to find a table which had just been vacated outside the restaurant. Staff were very friendly and helpful despite being incredibly busy both inside and with the outside tables. The owner/head chef is Sardianian and imports much of the authentic ingredients from his homeland. This was unlike any Italian food I’d experienced. Delicately balanced flavours, sublime textures and superb presentation. The Sardianan white wine we chose (we had mainly seafood and vegetarian dishes) was ever so slightly sweet but had great minerality and was an excellent combination with our mains. They even have their own Sardinian beer, which was a very pleasant and welcome precursor to our dinner on a balmy night. The desserts were outstanding. Talking with the owner, it is clear that it’s his belief and passion for what he’s doing that has seen this small restaurant survive the pandemic lockdowns. He’s got willing and knowledgeable staff. You find no pizza on this menu!
Thanks for a super meal last week. Suspect one of the team was new but he was doing his best which is all you can ask. My lasagne was delicious and so was the wine. Will def return.
Pleasantly surprised by this charming little restaurant. Sardinian specialities of fresh homemade pasta with both seafood and meat sauces. The starters are also good, especially the aubergine ones such as the parmigiana. Prices are reasonable and service attentive. Definitely recommend.
A wonderful local restaurant. The sort of restaurant you would come across in the back streets of an Italian town. Limited menu but everything we had was excellent in particular really good Pappardelle al ragu di agnello and ravioli asparagi. Small but interesting wine list.
I went for lunch and the food was amazing. It brought me back to my Italy! The restaurant is cosy and the staff is friendly and attentive. I will recommend it to all my friends.
Thank you Manolo and all your staff. It was a fantastic experience. I will definitely come back!!
The day before the December 2020 London lockdown we were lucky enough to get a table for two. Staff were very welcoming and accommodating. The food was exceptional – my daughter-in-law ordered a second main course! I am sorry we can’t revisit for a while.
What a great place for a spot of lunch and a glass of red. Two bowls of pasta with a fresh crisp well dressed salad washed down with a large glass of silky smooth Italian red. what more could one ask for. I hope you beat “lockdown”!
Romantic tiny spot with great genuine Italian food and excellent table service. This jewel of a restaurant is hidden away in the charming lanes of Richmond. Lovely place to be back!
Immediately when we walked up to this skinny restaurant tucked away near Richmond park we knew it was going to be good. It was a recommendation from a friend of a friend and didn’t disappoint.
The narrow, steep, wonky and creaky two flights of stairs to get to the toilets at the top of the restaurant only adds to this restaurants charm.
The waiter was pleasant and welcoming and we were sat at the first table closet to the front of the restaurant.
We ordered three starters from the menu, Aubergine in a tomato sauce topped with mozzarella, prawns in a chilli and tomato sauce and squid stuffed with Italian vegetables, baked and covered in tomato sauce. All were delicious, but the baked aubergine was melt in the mouth and cheesy, and by far everyones favourite
The complimentary bread to mop up the sauce and the bottle of Chianti and Merlot was perfect. Mains were seafood pasta, 2 x lamb Ragu and a carbonara. All were fantastic, just the right portion and the pasta cooked perfectly. Deserts were tiramisu, Affogato and Cannoli. Which again hit the spot, even though we were already full.
Total bill came to approx £140 with service charge for four people.
Would definitely recommend.
I live in Richmond and I’m glad this authentic Italian restaurant is here. Cosy and friendly atmosphere. Excellent service by the owner and the waitresses. The food is what authentic Italian should be like. Highly recommended.
We turned up here on spec fairly early in the evening (it was about 7pm) and although the place looked quiet we later appreciated that – because of its bookings – we were fortunate to get a table.
This place is slim and stylish. It’s decor gives an Italian flavour without cliche or dipping its toe into the stagnant waters of twee.
The food was stunning, I loved my arrabiata which was beautifully spiced, hot full of flavour and just the right size for a single serving ( I didn’t bother with starter or dessert). My wife had the tagliatelle gamberoni. She didn’t say it was good. In fact she didn’t say anything (a first) she simply savoured the freshly homemade pasta, the numerous prawns which were artistically and skilfully boosted with the accompaniment of garlic, chilli, and cherry tomatoes.
We’ve been fortunate enough to eat at a number of London’s Michelin starred restaurants, but Amanda said that this was the best meal she’d ever had and would be her last “death row” dinner. So it was clearly amazing.
Unsurprisingly, in a restaurant of such fine quality, the wine wasn’t cheap – we paid £28 for a very palatable bottle of Prosecco, but we’ve paid more for a less pleasing bottle in pubs locally.
We were delighted to have stumbled on to L’Assaggino, and next time we’ll make sure we book.
I have been here a few times now and every time the food and service are excellent. Probably the best italien I have been to in London! Super friendly staff and top food.
I’m so pleased this little gem of a restaurant has opened. I’m now a regular visitor and worried about my waistline. That said, it’s well worth an extra inch or two. The food is delicious and well priced. The wines are lovely and really well chosen but the main thing is that the food, ambiance and staff passed the acid test with flying colours. I took my dear mother there. She loved in. Enough said, just go and say hi to Manolo and Laura from me ♥️♥️♥️
Celebrating a family 70th birthday with family and friends. Small but very friendly restaurant with an excellent choice on menu. Staff were welcoming and very attentive. They actually went out of their way to accommodate us. Food was of excellent quality along with the wine. (So I’m led to believe by certain members of our party)To make the night an extra special occasion the chef had even made a beautiful Birthday Cake which the staff brought to our table.
An appetising menu, calm atmosphere with attentive but unobtrusive service. A pleasant place to meet, eat, talk and listen. Thank you.
Myself, husband and teenage son patronized L’assaggino for dinner and were very happy we did. We had the carbonara, the tagliatelle gamberoni, along with the mozzarella burrata and the Parma ham starters. Delicious! Great service! Family owned and operated. So glad we decided on this restaurant. For dessert we had the scrumptious tiramisu and, of course, limoncello. Fabulous! We will be back to this home-cooking eatery. Limited number of tables so they are able to provide quality service and food. You can sit back and relax and enjoy.
A very nice evening at L’assaggino. Very good insalata de polpa as starter and best pappardelle al ragu. Nice staff, great price, quality.
This is a great place to eat. The food was amazing. I had the calamari for start and delicious tagliatelli with prawns for main. They were both delicious. Dessert was also great!
Mi wife’s food was as amazing as mine.
The staff was always smiling and super attentive.
And the location in a small pedestrian street in Richmond is fantastic.
A great experience that I hope to repeat soon
Eating here felt like being transported back to Italy- this is how a true Italian restaurant should be, taste and feel like. The menu is small as the restaurant concentrates on pasta as well as a variety of starters but everything is cooked with fresh produce of the highest quality and the prices are low for what they offer.
Thoroughly recommend,
Grazie
I’ve been here a few times now and it has become one of my favourite places to eat in London. The dishes are mouthwateringly delicious and the portions are perfect! I’ve also found the staff to be attentive, friendly and efficient on all occasions I have been there and I’m looking forward to my next visit. So I would highly recommend to anyone thinking about trying it out, you won’t regret it.
My son has just moved to Richmond and exploring town we found this superb restaurant. The staff are very welcoming.we all had a super meal but a special recommendation had to go to the oven baked octopus. Oh goodness, a good heaven moment for me
We ordered through Deliveroo and the food is magnificent. Cooked to perfection and beautifully presented.
I’ve been at L’Assaggino to celebraty my wife’s birthday and everything was simply perfect. For sure I will go back and also will adivse to all my friends to go
This tiny restaurant was the best thing we could have stumbled upon. The menu is classic. The produce and quality of the food on another level. The service fantastic. We had a great time. I recommend ordering the Burrata, the black linguini and the cannolis for dessert. We will be traveling back to Richmond for this place- worth the trip!!
I’d been peeping into this place which appeared a few months so while wandering down Paved Court on the way to Richmond Green, & on impulse decided to go in for lunch. Can’t wait to go back! The food was absolutely delicious & really fresh, the people looking after us were lovely, warm, welcoming & passionate about their Italian menu. We shared stuffed squid to start with – sublime – then my friend had black linguine vongole (her favourite pasta dish) & pronounced it the best she’d ever had. I had the special fregola with seafood, which was gorgeous. A lot on the small but perfectly formed menu which I liked the look of. Very reasonably priced as well. One word of warning – the bathroom is right up at the top of two flights of a very steep wooden staircase, so not for the faint-hearted, but the room up there is beautifully appointed! There’s another lovely dining room on the first floor, so room for more people in the restaurant than you can see at first glance. Strongly recommend this as the perfect lunch or evening spot, very well situated in the heart of Richmond.
I have walked past this restaurant many times but finally went in for lunch. I am so happy I did because there is an inexpensive lunch menu. For only £10 an appetiser and pasta is offered. The food is fresh and delicious!
My son and I were delighted with our meal. The service was friendly and effective and the food was outstanding. This restaurant is a real asset to Richmond and the surrounding area. I will return and recommend that my friends also enjoy the experience.
Went to L’Assaggino after a day trip on the river from Richmond. I’ve wanted a restaurant like his near our home for years. Our local traditional style trattoria closed years ago and this restaurant is just what every neighbourhood needs. The interior is quite tight, but cosy. The menu also small, I’d say quite traditional and simple in a good way. It’s pretty good value and the staff were very friendly. The caponata starter was amazing, my main dish was also superb, ‘malloredus alla campidanese,’ a Sardinian pasta with sausage ragu. The other dishes we ordered looked really great too.
We didn’t order from the wine list, that’s something to look forward to. If they open a branch in North London we’d be very happy.
Ate from their set lunch menu; 2x courses for £10, starter and main. All courses of very good size, often in my experiences cheap lunch menus can leave you feeling a little short changed- not here. 1x bruschetta and 1x clams dish to start, followed by two spaghetti mains all very nice and fresh. Will be back.
I’ve eaten in almost every restaurant in Richmond and this is THE place to go. Atmosphere and service are second to none, and the food is superb. It’s small – which is a big part of the charm – so don’t expect a huge wine list or menu, but what you get is delicious and fantastic value. The chef is great and pops out to chat to customers, and all the other staff are delightful too. All in all a lovely place – go!
If visiting Richmond upon Thames and wanna stop for a nice meal , no doubt L’assaggino it’s the Italian restaurant for you.
The place is small and cosy with a romantic vintage atmosphere. From the outside you would never think to find such a good quality restaurant with an amazing service.
Since the “discovery”, a couple of months ago, I became a regular and introduced the place to family and friends and no one was disappointed.
Manolo, the owner, is an extremely polite & knowledgeable gentleman, he describes the dishes with great passion and he is always there to suggest the right wine to match the food ordered.
The menu is relatively small and simple , however the food quality is excellent from starters to dessert, the service always pleasant and never intrusive ( worth a mention the lovely young waitress Laura, friendly, sweet and professional). In addition they have a good wine selection.
A tiny con after so many deserved pros, the restroom is slightly inaccessible, however I am sure the managers are aware and maybe already working on this.
Overall highly recommended.
This tiny restaurant, full of character & atmosphere, is a hidden gem. The service is fantastic – very attentive and willing to please (thank you Manolo & your team!). The food & wine absolutely delicious – all three courses were amazing and authentic.
Can’t wait to return!
We ate here for the first time on 3rd May 2018 and found it to be a really lovely place. Staff are great and all join in with the guests to chat. Food is very good indeed and plentiful – we were given a complimentary seafood salad and a small pudding to try as well – and a couple of limonchello drinks to finish off with. It’s a small place and quite cosy – well worth a visit. We’ll certainly be going there again.
We had the first table outside of the year in brilliant sunshine, shared a few starters that were amazing and the main course pasta was fabulous. My 13 year old said it “was the best ragu he has ever eaten”. All ingredients were fresh and of the highest quality, wonderfully presented. Service was friendly, attentive, and helpful, thoroughly enjoyable lunch. Will definitely be going back.
Myself and 4 other work foodies went last night for a mid week, mid month treat and that it was. Lovely venue, small but atmospheric. Wine tasting, only on Thursday, we all had two courses, then the 5 of us shared 3 deserts. £30.00 per head with prosecco (a very nice, very drinkable one) with faultless, gorgeous food with wines well matched. Highly recommend.
Went with friends for lunch, food was great and the best tomato sauce we’ve had with the mushroom starter. Pasta was excellent, so different from the Italian chains. We were alone in the restaurant, which was a shame, but still a nice atmosphere and good service
Slightly off the beaten track in Richmond this is a small and cosy restaurant so booking is a must. There were 14 in our party and we booked out the entire top floor. The staff were very welcoming and attentive both on our arrival and throughout the evening. To start I had the meatballs topped with spicy tomato sauce (which had a kick to the sauce), with the seafood pasta as my main course. Both dishes were very tasty, well presented and despite the number of us, served hot and at the same time as the other meals. There was also a reasonable selection of wines on offer. I will definitely return if in the area.
I ate tagliatelle gambaroni and it was delicious, the pasta was very fresh and tasted great! For dessert I had the white chocolate cake and it was probably the best dessert I’ve had in a long time. great management completes the whole restaurant experience.
The food was very nice and the service was good , we choose the pasta which was lovely just would have liked a slightly bigger piece. The place is so cozy, feels like at home
We enjoyed an early dinner here before attending Richmond Theatre.
The menu is limited, but authentically Italian and everything we had was lovely.
Beautiful light pasta, delicious sauces and succulent meats. We had a very pleasant window table, very attentive waitress who was knowledgeable and recommended dishes.
The restaurant is tiny, small seating area downstairs and some extra seating upstairs, I would imagine booking advisable unless you eat early.
The toilets were up two levels via some steep stairs…anyone elderly may find this tricky.
i recommend this restaurant for theatre goers as its very convenient, or just for a very pleasant meal for lunch or dinner. A real find which we will definitely return to.
We went to L’Assaggino on a Saturday night in March and the whole experience was fantastic, start to finish. We were the first ones to sit down on the ground floor so it was very quiet, but by the time we left it was super busy and had a great atmosphere. We shared burrata and polpette to start and then carbonara and a Sardinian pasta special with fennel sausage and tomato, and everything was fresh and delicious. And the famous white chocolate cake didn’t disappoint either! Top it all off with a perfect aperol spritz and we were two very happy customers. The staff are all so friendly and attentive and we will definitely be going back regularly!
My partner and I stumbled across this tiny Italian restaurant last summer by chance, which is tucked behind a small alley way. We couldn’t get a table right away but decided to wait around for 20 mins for a table. It was the best decision made as we discovered one of our favourite Italian restaurants and have been back time and time again. Each time the food was delicious and service was very attentive. I was hesitated to write this review, not because it is not good. Instead it is because it is so good and local to me, I felt like keeping this little gem to myself. The restaurant is small and quirky, and get busy on Friday and weekends so best booked ahead. My partner declared this place served the best spaghetti bolognese and I loved the spaghetti carbonara. It is very reasonably priced (especially in Richmond!), like other reviewers noted, relatively small menu, which is actually a good thing because they serve the best of the classic dishes and ingredients are fresh. It is run by people who are genuinely passionate about serving the best of Italian food so worth giving it a try if you are out in Richmond.
We found this delightful restaurant when it first opened in July when we visited twice on a 2 night break to Richmond. We were so impressed that it was our chosen restaurant for another 2 night break at the end of September. On this occasion we were greeted by America the owner. America was very welcoming and interesting to talk to and demonstrated her love of Italian food as she talked us through the slightly changed menu. The food was excellent, the wine quaffable and all reasonably priced. Service very good and the atmosphere warm and relaxed. The food is simple but delicious, perfect portion size and we are enjoying slowly working our way through all the dishes. Regrettably my husband and I live elsewhere in the country I usually travel down from North Wales so cannot use this lovely restaurant as our regular go to… lucky for those in Richmond its on their doorstep! We are visiting Richmond again next week so cannot wait to visit our favourite Italian restaurant once again.
I visited again but this time with my kids. I absolutely love this little restaurant – it makes me feel like I’m in Italy. It’s quaint and authentic and as someone else said – a hidden gem!
My kids had the spaghetti bolognaise and both of them (6 & 13) said how delicious it was (yay!) and then they had the chocolate pie/cake desert with ice cream and they couldn’t stop saying how yummy it was! To me this is a great success as my kids were really well behaved too! They were truly satisfied with their meals.
I had the calamari for starter and to add to the “normalness of calamari” the sauce they serve it in was totally delicious and moreish!
I had the special of the day which was small ravioli with spinach and walnut & ricotta in a yummy cream sauce topped with rocket (similar to the usual ravioli but smaller sized pockets). It was plate licking good!!!!
I cannot wait to return with my husband – this is a restaurant to go to any time as it caters for a family lunch to a romantic evening out. I wish I lived closer!!!
I can’t say enough great things about this little hidden gem of a place. Manolo was our server. His expertise of the menu items allowed for us to make an educated decision, and the food was absolutely delicious, with the calamari starter in particular, just amazing! Not only was his service impeccable, but many of his peers were quick to refill our wine, bread, and so forth. They have a way of making you feel like you’re eating a meal from home. We finished with the White Chocolate cake which was just a perfect ending to the meal and evening.
The food was terrific, the service was great, and the pricing was reasonable. We will be back!!!
A very small and intimate italian. Menu is not too long a few simple dishes very well cooked. Two of us had the pappardelle with lamb ragu…. fab and home made pasta.
Service is just good and not overly expensive. 3 people 2 courses each and a bt of fizz was £88. Doesn’t seem unreasonable to me.
had an excellent meal for my wife’s birthday, booked via opentable after strong reviews. well thought out menu, excellent pasta, and seafood dishes. Friendly, attentive staff, 14 covers downstairs and similar upstairs provides a cosy environment. Will be returning and would not hesitate to recommend.
Lovely atmospere , friendly and efficient staff, delicious food , I highly recommend this restaurant
Gorgeous meal for hubby and myself. The staff were so attentive and even offered us free coffee! Would definitely go back and the food was out of this world!!! Loved it
We came across this little restaurant by chance. It is sited in a quiet back alley away from the crowds but only just off the main road. Despite its small size the reception, ambience and service was excellent. We had two pasta dishes, both delicious and nicely presented. The desserts were also well made and a real treat. We have eaten many times in Italy and this little hideaway is a wonderful reflection of the real thing. Definitely worth a diversion and should be on your schedule for any trip to Richmond.
I don’t understand why this unique place doesn’t show on a Richmond search! It should be one of the top places – certainly in Richmond and surrounding area. It’s tucked away but easy to find just off the Green. A small downstairs seating area is supplanted by more upstairs. Probably best to book at busy times. The menu is deliberatley limited – it has a small kitchen – and it seems they prefer to concentrate on home made genuine Italian food. Here they succeed in spades. All the dishes are traditional and beautifully cooked and presented and as good as any trattoria I’ve visited in Italy. The lamb ragu was superb and the coffee panda cotta (a special on the evening we went) was perfection. If your’e looking for the full Italian menu experience then look elsewhere – it really only pasta mains. I you want food like Momma makes – with a smile and personal service then come here. We went pre dinner but the selection was from the full menu with complimentary prosecco. Wine a little on the expensive side but overall excellent value for money. Well done guys!
I had such a gorgeous lunch at L’assaggino! The ravioli with walnut cream sauce was just deeeeevine! Our waiter was so lovely and we just have a fabulous time with fabulous food – can’t wait to go again!!!!
My husband and I loved this restaurant. We had a pre rugby match lunch and it was a fabulous start to our afternoon. The food was amazing – lovely fresh pasta – and the staff were so friendly, welcoming and attentive. We will definitely go back!
From start to finish we had an amazing time at L’Assaggino. We booked through Opentable, not sure what the other issues below have been but we had no problems at all.
Beautiful food, authentic Italian. Reminded us of being back in Italy!!
Staff were courteous and very nice, not too intrusive but attentive throughout our meal.
Would highly recommend and will definitely be going back!!
Friendly cozy independent Italian restaurant on a pedestrian lane off Richmond Green.
Fresh delicious home-made authentic Italian food made with fresh ingredients.
Really good cooking!
We chose this place for lunch on a ‘match’ day at Twickenham, so selected on the basis of it’s quiet location and booked ahead just in case. We sat upstairs which is quieter but still has a nice cosy ambiance and ordered from the menu which has all the staple Italian dishes. Our food was excellent and the service from the staff was similar. Wine was equally good. Excellent restaurant and we’ll certainly come again!
Whilst a nightmare for the gluten-intolerant, the pasta only concept for main courses works very well. All of the fresh pasta is made on the premises, and it shows
Very good starter selection: today’s special was fish balls, which worked well. The regular starters were all well appreciated such as burata and carpaccio.
Really would recommend this place. It is not the same as the restaurant it replaces so don’t be fooled by it being in the same location. Because it is tucked away, it is easy to ignore, but don’t
The restaurant is very small, however it is great for couple’s date night. The service was great and very personal. The food quality was great as well. Only issue was one main meal was not piping hot as there was an issue with the other meal being dropped so had to wait to be remade. Would definitely recommend!
Went with my family on my birthday. Had a great time, even got a little candle on the desert; little warm cosy place, attentive service and delicious pasta. Caramel pana cotta was one of the best I ever had.
It’s a small and very cosy restaurant close to Richmond high street.
We had the mussels as a starter – very well cooked and extremely fresh!
For main, I had the tagliatelle with king prawns – the pasta was excellent, but the prawns were farmed and not wild caught which makes a big difference in the quality of the dish. My wife had the raviolis and they were very good.
For desert we shared a tiramisu and it was really soft and tasty.
All around a great place to go, not excellent because of the farmed prawns.
I live in Kew (localish) and only recently found this amazing restaurant with my family. This was our first time and it certainly won’t be our last- the food was so delicious and the service was great so we’ll be coming back for more. I had the penne arrabbiata which I recommend to anyone. This hidden gem was definitely a welcome treat and I really hope to be back here often with my partner.
I’ve been with a couple of friend of mine there and was such a busy night, with no booking there were no space in there so I came back just for a bottle of wine and a tiramisu, was ok, to be honest not the best I be ever eaten but ok. Nice location and good atmosphere.
It’s great to have a local, small, friendly restaurant with a menu expansive enough to give good choice but not too big to mean most of the food comes from the freezer.
Our experience was of quick and friendly service in a small but attractive downstairs room with perhaps 12 to 14 covers but more upstairs if it gets busy. The ‘cosiness’ is quite attractive and you feel that you are being looked after.
The menu has plenty of good pasta and seafood choices but no fish or veal (on this occasion). No problem for us as I ate mainly vegetarian and my wife seafood – both of which were excellent. The food was freshly prepared and tasty – not over seasoned or over cooked. The seafood particularly was cooked – just so. There was a good choice of wine – just right for a small establishment.
If you want a table for more than 4 people – you should book ahead.
This is a fairly new venture and a definite improvement over previous restaurants at this spot.
Great place – bolognese and tagliatelle were fantastic. Service really nice, chef knows her pasta. Highly recommend
We visited this little hidden gem this afternoon. The food was very tasty and the service was good. The only thing I would want are slightly bigger portions. The Gorgonzola and walnut gnocchi was delicious.
A superb authentic Italian restaurant with home made pasta. Superb service, I would recommend it highly
My husband and I visit Richmond several times a year and luckily during our last visit at the end of July we found this delightful Italian Restaurant tucked away near the green. We love our food but I am fussy about where I eat so I asked to take a peak inside the restaurant itself. This did not guarantee I would stay but I felt at ease straight away and after a brief conversation with Nora we decided to try it. The atmosphere was charming with music not too loud so we could actually hear ourselves talk. Service was friendly and we were left to enjoy a prosecco as an apertif at our leisure.
We always choose different starters and mains and swop them around so we both get to try four different dishes during an evening. Our starters and mains were simple but bursting with flavour and so fresh, absolutely delicious. We thought the house white and red enjoyable and the prices reasonable. We enjoyed it so much we returned the following evening for dinner and tried four different dishes. We are going back to Richmond again this weekend and are already booked in for Sunday afternoon we can’t wait.
Helpful tip : There is seating upstairs if it looks full downstairs.
My friends and I visited to celebrate my birthday and were really impressed – will definitely be going back. The food was delicious and there was a great selection to choose from, the staff were excellent and the atmosphere was lovely. We ended up spending about three hours in there! Very good value too, you can get two courses and a glass of prosecco for £16.99 or three courses with a drink for £20.99. Was pleasantly surprised that they were this deal was still available on a Saturday night. Highly recommend.
I’ve been in that restaurant with my girlfriend and I found a really romantic atmosphere. The food was delicious, I ate the “pappardelle” with lamb ragú and an oven baked aubergine with parmesan, the real Italian kitchen. It should be noted the white chocolate cake with a scoop of chocolate ice cream, simply unbelievable! Also the service was really professional and warm. I just can say, many thanks for all! Totally recommended!!
Nice selection of dishes and currently for their soft opening they are doing a 2 or 3 course option from their main menu with a glass of prosecco included, £16.99/£20.99
Had the stuffed squid and the beef carpaccio to start, both very generous portions and then the seafood linguine and the lamb ragu for mains. The lamb was particularly tender and the pappardelle with it was lovely and fresh. The king prawns in the seafood dish were particularly plump and with hindsight would probably have gone for the solely king prawn dish. We were too full to need dessert but the sweet menu was fairly limited anyway. Overall food was great, good portion size, tasty and good variety, mains were a tiny bit salty but fantastic value overall definitely worth a visit
This place is so good that we went back a second night in a row for dinner. It’s a quaint little restaurant tucked away in the cobbled street behind House of Fraser. The food is excellent and the service fantastic. We’ve had carpaccio (twice), a vegetarian quiche, tagliatelle gamberoni (twice), cannelloni, penne bolognese, tiramisu and panna cotta. Everything has been delicious. Please give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.
My husband, daughter and her partner visited L’assaggino on Saturday evening for dinner. The Maitre d’ explained it was their soft opening and they were currently running with a short fixed price test menu while they bedded in the service.
We enjoyed a complementary aperitif (Aperol Spritz or Prosecco) and then all tucked into delicious bruschetta. Our main courses included lamb tagliatelli, spinach & ricotta ravioli with walnut cream and seafood pasta. We all finished with an excellent tiramisu.
The service was good and atmosphere relaxed. Definitely recommend and as my daughter lives practically opposite I’m sure we will be back.
Very pretty little restaurant! Food was excellent accompanied by great selection of vine! Burrata and stuffed calamari are definitely worth a try! Good selection of pasta also. But don’t forget to leave a little bit of space for dessert because white chocolate cake is to die for!❤️
We have spent lovely evening thank you Manolo and team!
I recommend this restaurant!
Thank you Manolo & team for a great evening. The food was excellent & the service first class. It really is a great addition to Richmond.. you ask how can another restaurant be successful.. simply provide excellent service & great food. We had burrata to start & gnocchi & prawn pasta for main & it was really good
We are blessed in Richmond – a great choice of Italian restaurants. We had walked by this restaurant many times and promising ourselves to visit. It had gone through a change of ownership so the service staff was out to make a good impression. Unfortunately, the peace inside was ruined by one individual who continued to spout total drivel in an annoying accent, but I did not let that ruin the meal. Starter of carpaccio was delicious followed by an absolutely superb papardelle with Lamb. We’d gone for the 2 course plus prosecco option and think that had we gone a la carte the portions would’ve been greater. Partner had ravioli, although delicious was a little bit on the heavy side. Ambience, shouty woman aside, was nice. Service great. We’d be happy to go back as value and quality was very good. Good choice on the menu card
